Our club started in 2002 as a small gathering of interested accordion players in the Victoria area. Since then we have grown, with members who come from as far as away as Nanaimo (2 hours north of Victoria).

We usually meet the first Sunday of every month (subject to change) at the very pleasant facilities provided by the Sidney Shoal Centre at 10030 Resthaven Drive in Sidney, BC.

The club’s band, consisting of about 20 members, begins rehearsal at 11 am. The band plays a large variety of music types, and performs at various events in the community. We encourage newer members and players to join us too, with practices starting with easier songs, followed by the more advanced songs.

If needed, a short business meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. and lasts for a maximum of 1/2 hour.  This is followed by a jam session, where we enjoy music of various genres, from our own repertoire or “ad lib”.  We will try to choose a them for the month (e.g., love songs for February (Valentines); Irish songs for March, etc.  A highlight of our monthly get together is this very enjoyable jam session.

Some meetings feature individuals, if they wish to perform specifically, or learning workshops and demonstrations on the inner workings of an accordion. The club is fortunate to have members who have decades of experience in accordion sales, repair and function. Members have musical skills ranging from beginner to advanced. All members have opportunities to play, jam with others, or just relax and enjoy the music and chat with others about the wonderful world of accordion music and accordions.

We welcome guest accordionists as well as non-accordionists who want to enjoy the music and chat.
