The Victoria Accordion Club was started in 2002 and now has as many as 20 – 30 accordion enthusiasts attending monthly meetings on the first Sunday of every month at the Victoria Edelweiss Club (108 Niagara Street) in Victoria.

The VAC band is made up of 10 – 15 accordionists, ranging in levels from beginner to advanced. The band was formed 2002, with the creation of the Victoria Accordion Club.

Due to the hard work and dedication of the group members, the group has become very popular, and performed in many local venues.

The VAC band has performed at the former Chemainus Accordion Festival several times, as well as numerous venues and cultural events in Victoria.   More recently the band has performed at the Accordions by the Sea festivals in Victoria in July each year, and a variety of cultural events throughout the community. The VAC band, as well as numerous other well-known accordion soloists and groups from other areas of Canada and the US performed at the Victoria Accordion Festival.  The festival has been held each year in July and is designed for all ages and musical interests. Everyone is welcome.

The music of the VAC Band includes a wide variety of songs. Music ranges from popular international songs, such as Mexican Hat Dance and Chiapanecas, to classical (Scheherazade) to waltzes (Life in the Finland Woods) to tangos (Scent of a Woman) and even jazz (Swanee River) and rock’n roll. The group plays range of European ethnic music as well. And, of course, the band plays the ever-popular and lively polkas.
